Leah and Oscar wanted to do something different for their engagement session. Since they loved the water they decided to have their photos taken on a sailboat.
Leah was as comfortable walking around the moving boat as on land. Not too much a surprise since she was on the sailing team in high school and even taught sailing to kids one summer. Oscar got his sea legs pretty quick, too.
I on the other hand kept thinking I’d end up overboard at some point. But I love a challenge – especially when it involves a new photo adventure!
We couldn’t have had a better day. Calm waters and the bluest of skies.
This reminds me of the old Nautica perfume ads.
Leah wore a silver starfish necklace.
Time to head back to the dock.
“Come, cuddle your head on my shoulder, dear, Your head like the golden-rod, And we will go sailing away from here To the beautiful land of Nod” Ella Wheeler Wilcox Thank you Leah and Oscar for a great time! We’ll see you in a few weeks for your wedding!!!
And many thanks to their friend Laura and her parents who took us out on their boat.
Los Angeles, California The Observatory is one of my favorite places in LA, not only because my husband proposed to me in Griffith Park, but also because of the gorgeous views. When Michael moved to LA it was still undergoing renovation and we both anxiously awaited its opening. While we were talking outside, an LAPD helicopter flew overhead.
After quickly getting a few wide shots I thought I’d zoom in on the chopper.
Oblivious to the world around them, a couple embraces just as the city lights start twinkling.
The sky was simply gorgeous!
Los Angeles in all her splendor.

One of the nice things about a Southern California wedding is the weather usually cooperates – even in winter. Morgan and Chris were married on a sunny Saturday afternoon in February at The French Estate. I love this moment they shared right after their ceremony. The French Estate is filled with antiques and souvenirs from around the world. The groomsmen relax before the wedding in one of the rooms. If you read my blog you know I love shoes. And the brides I photograph have the coolest! Morgan fights back the tears before the ceremony. It’s time… the bride and bridesmaids get ready to walk down the aisle.
And they’re married!!!! Weddings are unpredictable. That’s what makes them fun to photograph. Here two of the groomsmen have their own Chuck & Larry moment.
Introducing the new Mr. & Mrs. Morgan and Chris had a wish tree instead of a traditional guestbook. The tags inscribed with good wishes blow in the wind as the sun sets behind them.
Night falls and lights twinkle, the perfect time for romance. While Morgan and Chris are at their aptly named sweetheart table, I sneak away with the bouquet to take some photos. I’m a litle concerned since there’s no light, but I found a cute bench and I love the look of the available light mixed with bounce flash.
This cake feeding started out nice… … but Morgan let her new husband have more cake than he bargained for.
I don’t think he minded, the cake was delicious! Ahhh… love is in the air. Morgan’s grandparents have been married over 50 years and going strong. Don Panzik played great tunes while the guests danced the night away. It’s time to say… … goodnight.
