Congratulations Selina & Steve!

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Selina and Steve decided to get married by the ocean because they “love the Caribbean and sun and beach.” They had a wonderfully intimate ceremony at the Majestic Colonial with two dozen or so guests from Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.
The day started off with a few sprinkles but the rain held off during the ceremony.

The wind was another matter as Selina’s veil fluttered ever so dramatically all afternoon.

Neither wind nor rain clouds could spoil this perfect day!

Steve’s dad and grandma.

You may kiss the bride!

It started to drizzle – you can even see some of the raindrops in this photo.

The wedding drew quite a few sunbathing onlookers and at least one photographer.

Everyone’s getting in on the photo action!

With one kiss the rain clouds blew away. Now that’s magic.

Getting Ready His & Hers

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Michael & I were very lucky to have been chosen by Selina & Steve to document their destination wedding in this tropical paradise.

I started out the day with the bride and bridesmaids in the salon.

Meanwhile Michael was following the groom and groomsmen as they got ready.

Finishing touches….

I love this photo of Selina. It could have been taken decades ago, the iconic bride with flowing veil peering into her future.

I’m a Gold Digger!

Jerome, Arizona
Arizona is known for its ghost towns. Many of these were boom towns that were abandoned when the mines closed. Jerome was one such mining camp in the late 1800’s. The United Verde Mine produced over a billion dollars in ore over 70 years.

On the road to the mine we were greeted by a fuzzy donkey. I wanted to take him home.

The mine was closed so we walked around the town. Not all of the buildings dated back to the mining times.

This structure used to be a live theater and now houses a glass blowing studio.

Jerome became notorious for all sorts of vices, among them women and gambling. The brothel still remains, converted into a boutique.

The old and the new intersect.

The sun sets fast and it’s time to head back. Thanks to Rachael and Vic for a wonderful time.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Los Angeles, California

As I sit down to write a card or letter or even this blog I often find myself at a loss for words. How can I even begin to express the love I have for my husband? Sometimes, OK often, I find myself cheating. I look to lovers from ages ago who have more literary talent in their little pinkie than I could ever even dream of having. Sometimes their poetry inspires, other times I just quote it. Let’s face it, Shakespeare and Browning and Neruda just say it better.

So here’s my holiday quote to you:

Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.
– Franklin P. Jones

And when all attempts at writing fail, just scrapbook!
