Here’s my Throwback Thursday.
When I was an undergrad, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Krakow, Poland. One of my goals was to find a photojournalism internship. There were no formal internships but I kept writing letters and knocking on doors. Finally, Adam Golec, a photo editor at Gazeta Wyborcza, took pity on me. He sent me out on a few assignments. He also gave me film for my camera and ideas on which parts of town I should explore photographically. For that I am eternally grateful.
During one of those days, I found a tattoo parlor down a dark corridor away from the main road. The tattoo artist was super nice and allowed me to photograph inside his shop. I ended up with one of my favorite images from the entire trip.
The negative remained in the newspaper archives but I did make a print for my portfolio in the newspaper darkroom. This is a scan of that print.
