Happy Birthday Sis!!!

Today is my sister Alicja's birthday. I'm sad I can't join her in Chicago for the celebration. Last year, Alicja came to visit us here in LA for her birthday.

I tend to buy presents centered around a theme. One year I got my sis an Alias book, some spy gear and a CIA badge. Last year was Alice in Wonderland. In keeping with this theme, we had a tea party with yummy cherry tarts from La Brea Bakery. Thankfully the Mad Hatter declined his invitation.

Then we went bowling at Midtown Lanes. It was my first time in over a decade - and my sister's, too. Michael had the best form but also a lot of gutter balls.

Adam the Actor

Meet Adam. Adam is an actor. He's also a writer. And he was the bestest best man ever in our wedding. He even put out a fire.

We met Tiffany and Jill for an engagement portrait session at Paradise Cove. There were tons of people around but we found a few secluded areas, including this sign.

We took more photos above the beach before heading down to the sand.

Under the boardwalk, down by the sea....

Tiffany and Jill will be taking the plunge in just a few weeks!

Flawless Melody

Before the move I took some headshots for my friend Melody who just joined the Troubadours, "a group that sings everything from doo-wop to opera to Broadway music."

Melody is also a personal trainer and licensed massage therapist with her own Pasadena studio, Flawless Fitness. If you're trying to find the motivation to get in shape or fit into your wedding dress, she will get you sweating!

My favorite part of the shoot was when Melody would forget about the camera and just make faces or laugh.

Or simply brush her hair out of eyes.

Life's a beach!

Polka Photos has moved to a new place right by the ocean! We're still designing the client area and unpacking our office so no inside photos yet. But the spot is perfect for engagement and newlywed shoots - there's the beach, park, lagoon, playground and cool murals all within walking distance. And there's plenty of parking in the lot across the street from our studio. We can't wait to have you come over!
